My friend Bernadette--who by the way never reads my blog, so will never see this--won't watch a movie or read a book if she knows it's going to make her cry. She wants to be warned ahead of time so she can avoid it. I've never gotten that. I love it if a book or a movie makes me cry. I love feeling the emotions of the characters so vividly.
If a story makes me laugh, I enjoy the moment, and sometimes a laugh is just what I needed. But if a story makes me cry, I remember it forever.
Can you think of any stories that have made you cry?
Isn't it interesting what you remember?? When I read the question, I immediately thought of two books, "The Secret Garden" (book NOT movie) and "Where the Red Fern Grows". Both books from my late childhood/pre-teen years. I even have copies stashed away for my daughter to read when she's older. (18 months now---got a ways to go)
ReplyDeleteI cry easier over books than movies. I've cried over your books, books from Lucy Monre and Catherine Anderson and probably a bunch of others.
ReplyDeletei cry at everything. Perhaps the worst thing is when I'm rereading or watching something again and know the teary part is coming up. I swear I'm not going to cry this time. Yeah, like that's ever worked. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'm with Bern on the sad movies. I have a hard time shutting off the crying and the sadness, so I tend to avoid them too!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sensitive with books and there have been many, many that have made me cry. I'm such a crier anyway! I'll have to think about specific titles . . .
I cry over everything!
ReplyDeleteI admit it. I'm a crier. I cry at movies and reading books. When Mandy was little she would hand me kleenex at the sad parts of Disney movies! I'm pitiful.
ReplyDeletePay It Forward is the one movie I'll never forget because I cried a river while watching it!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Carol. EVERY time! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bern- no sad books or movies. I can't filter out the emotions so I end up feeling sad for days. The good part, cheerful books, movies and songs will make me happy for days.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl in the pink coat from Schindler's List still makes me tear up. Nope. I don't like to be sad.
I cry easily and love movies (and books) that let the healing tears flow so will add these to my list.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, BTW I saw this cry baby on the wall of an office while glimpsing TV series Head Case for the first time Mon. Is that where you got it and the other?
