We had to make a decision last night--I mean HOLY COW! The women's final Olympic skate, American Idol AND Survivor! Do we need TiVo or what? Well, American Idol is a must tape show, because I tape every show for my daughter because she's at school nights. On the weekend, she sits down and watches all of them. So that was a given. The other two VCRs in the house I can't figure out how to work, so...we watched Olympics with Survivor in picture-in-picture in the corner of the screen and switched when terry found the immunity idol, and when the girls weren't skating. Whew! What a challenging evening. LOL
I was very disappointed for my Russian sweetheart. Her last Olympics and you could see the disappointment in her eyes as she took the bronze. What a shocker, huh, with Japan edging out the American favorite, Sasha? I sure didn't want to see Sasha crash and burn, and she managed to pull it out for silver.
I must say the Olympics got a whole lot more interesting when they featured the skaters. Hope the network figured it out. Maybe next year we could get Fabio to be a commentator. He couldn't be any more irritating than that other fella.
LOL!!! Fabio!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I watched American Idol and I just haven't gotten into Survivor yet this season. I had already seen the result for the Olympics too and knew the top three wouldn't skate until later anyway.
I kind of liked the Japanese skater...she was so happy to win and skated beautifully. I still don't quite get the new scoring system though. How can you fall twice during your performance and still get silver? I guess she scored higher on her other elements.
I really wanted Michelle to win this time! However, since she couldn't, I wanted the Russian girl to win but she just didn't do a good job. The Japanese skater was the best. I've never watched Survior or American Idol so I didn't have a problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm an AI freak so there was no question what was going to be on TV. I did flip back and forth and saw Emily Hughes' performance. She missed one jumped but she did well. As far as the commentators--if I don't want to hear them I usually mute the TV. The skaters are so good that you don't really need the music. Their grace and the expressions on their faces is music enough
ReplyDeleteDid you watch the show called Olympic Ice? It was on a sister channel of the regular Olympics and was a daily recap and discussion of the ice skating. It was one of the best parts.
ReplyDeleteBern: That is usually what I watched instead of the Olympics...it focused entirely on the skating and the Canadian skaters who won in 2002 commenting.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I thought they were so much better than the other commentary. Actually I think the 4 of them were a perfect match and should be doing more of this. I thought Mary Corillo was funny and the Canadian pair were a riot.
ReplyDeleteI agree Bern...Mary Corillo was funny. I also liked Scott Hamilton when he was on there too.
ReplyDeleteWAAAAAAAAAAAH! How did I miss that show? I would have loved it!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you missed it Cheryl...it came on every night on the USA channel.
