Phake's Anatomy
JUST A NORMAL SATURDAY NIGHT AT OUR PLACE
Featuring Alexis and Bama
Cameraman: Elijah
"Doctor, do you think she can be saved?"
"I do, but it will be a tricky surgery. Scrub in."
"Can we fix her?"
"Yes, we can!"
"As you can see, this baby's guts have been compressed. That's the technical jargon. In plain speak: She's flat as a pancake."
"Did somebody say pancakes?"
"Keep your mind on the patient, Grrasshopper. We must now stitch her up. Like this..."
"Can I try? Let me. I practiced on a pig's foot last night."
"You also forgot to put her heart back in, Doc. It's on ice here in your favorite bowl."
"Woops. It's our secret. Good thing we left this handy dandy flap."
"You can let her wake up now. She's good as new. Want a doughnut?"

"Good job. Now we'll just clip this thread--oh wait, we forgot to wear gloves."

the last of the season
Look what's remaining on the vines this late in the season. These are the yellow-ish cherry tomatoes that have less acid. They are really yummy, and we've been enjoying them in our salads.

Kristin and I are excited that Elli loves her dollies. Both of us have dolls we still like and will keep forever. Kristin loved her babies. They went everywhere with us. I remember sitting through movies at the theater, holding the doll so Kristin could eat her snack. Life-size dolls rode in the shopping card at the grocery store. We got some surprised looks when another shopper noticed and at first thought it was a real baby.
I have a feeling Elli's babies will be traveling with us, too.

Giraffe Cupcakes
Giraffe Cupcakes
Are these adorable or what? Kristin's BFF Melissa loves giraffes and someone made her these for her birthday., The heads are circus peanuts and the neck is a frosted sugar wafer cookie. The mane is amazingly detailed. I can't imagine taking this much time on cupcakes. Obviously I won't be making them, but I want to be sure *lizzie starr sees them, because she treats her kids at school great and just might give the giraffes a shot.

Alexis got an award!
Instead of soccer, Alexis went out for track and field this year. After the last meet yesterday, they gave out awards and ribbons. Alexis got a ribbon and listened as they called out the players who got awards like most improved, etc.. She didn't get one. Just as the ceremony was finishing up, she said they announced the final award. This one wouldn't be given at that time, but would be presented in the fall in front of the entire school. And for the student with the most sportsman like conduct, the one respectful to staff, other players and opponents alike, the award went to...Alexis. Her mom cried. Alex was so proud when she called me and even came over to show me her ribbon. We're all eager to see her awesome plaque in the fall.
Congratulations, Alexis!
