In 2006, did you read an author you'd never read before and discover you wanted to read more? I did! I know a lot of you are already fans, but I discovered Susan Wiggs. Brenda Novak was another author I read for the first time and then went back to find more. I also discovered western writer Jory Sherman and now have a stack of his books on my nightstand.
I'm making it a goal in 2007 to read more authors I've never tried before.
Off the top of my head: Jillian Hart, Maureen McKade, Erica Orloff, and Denise Hamilton (mystery).
ReplyDeleteOh, and I highly endorse Susan Wiggs' Chicago Fire trilogy - even if I've only read books 1 & 3 and #2 is still buried in the TBR.....
Wow you are making up for lost time. I have some new authors but you are the one who gave me their names. I am working on all different web sights now. It is shocking how many are out there. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteAnne Frasier, Elizabeth Hoyt and Eloisa James. And Jo Leigh. I think there were few others as well, but I can't remember their names right now.
ReplyDeleteWendy, I agree! ANYTHING by S Wiggs in my book! She, Cheryl, & Julia Quinn were first to be flagged for my Favorites list on the computer.
ReplyDeleteSince I probably won't risk taking my signed Every Waking Moment by Brenda, does anyone have a GREAT suggestion for a book/author to read on our flight to/from New Orleans (probably only read on cruise if bad weather) besides Susan's Summer at Willow Lake? Trying to travel light due to bad back, weight restrictions AND saving room for SHOPPING treasures. Any suggestions what to buy or avoid--landing Cozumel & Mexican Riveria? Co-worker is sharing tips as she prepares for her 2nd trip.
Will check books soon to come up with Newbies to share.
Wendy we discovered alot of the same authors!
ReplyDeleteI discovered Cheryl St. John :0)Maureen McKade, Stephanie Mittman (she writes as Stevi Mittman now) Erica Orloff(do they wear Heels in Heaven was SO SO good!) Thanks to Cheryl I also discovered Victoria Bylin and the entire "NEXT" series :)
I do need to add that I discovered Francine Rivers near the end of the year and just finished reading Redeeming Love. I can not understand how I never stumbled onto to this book until now-- It was so good!
Crikey! I'm just making it a goal in '07 to read more! I just finished THE EARL OF HER DREAMS by Anne Mallory and now I'm reading DARKNESS WAKES by Tim Waggoner.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Cheryl is my favorite author, but I found some "treasures" last year. Some by way of Cheryl, but some I just found after moving. 1st, there's my autographed one from Margaret Moore, with Jo Beverley and Deborah Simmons(which started it all.) Then, Brenda Joyce, Lynn Erickson, Debbie Macomber and Susan Wiggs. Started 2 of the "Heart of the West" series and HAVE TO find the rest! Highly recommended!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl for opening me up again to new and wonderful world of books! Forgot how fun and exciting they can be!
Sue what is the heart of the West series-- sounds like it is right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteOh, Katrina! It is a series about an (get this!) bachelor auction to save Lost Springs a place like Boys Town. The bachelors are former attendees. The stories are about the guys who got bought and the ladies that bought them. I've read 2, but looked on line and there are 12 or 14 of them.
