Tuesday

I haven't posted for a few days. My dad passed away last Wednesday, so things have been a little busy around here. We just celebrated his 84th birthday a week ago, and a few days later he was gone. The hospice caregivers said that often happens after a birthday or Christmas when the person has seen all their family. It's like that releases them to go.

Here's a picture of him as a young man many many years ago, and a picture taken on his birthday. With him is one grandchild and the rest are great-grandchildren. We made a DVD slide show for the funeral service and the music was Glen Miller's In The Mood. Dad played drums in supper club orchestras for years in his younger days.

  2. Dear Cheryl, My condolences to you & your family. I have been praying for you since I heard the news. We got to see my mother for 4 major events & 7 visits in the 5 months before she died at age 74. The memories and pictures are such a comfort. Thanks for sharing yours with us. What a blessing to have such a big family to share your sorrow and rejoice in his legacy.
Glad you have us friends to support you, as well as faith in an awesome God. Love always, Lou

  4. I'm crying, Cheryl. Please accept my sincere condolences. Perhaps we can e-mail a bit when you're up to it and we can share feelings. I'm still unsure of the grieving process but my therapist is helping. I miss my Daddy so! I know you do too.

  6. Cheryl, I'm so sorry about your loss. Your mention of "In the Mood" gave me some bittersweet memories of my own. It was one of my folks' favorites, and I still think of Jimmy Stewart playing Glenn Miller and doing that song to June Allyson's sparkling face. Aren't we all (those of us over 40 by just a little) lucky in our memories?
