What does your TBR pile look like?

I just read a couple of books. I read Blackberry Winter, a Next by Cheryl Reavis and Blind Curve by Annie Solomon. It's a joke to read only one or two books when I assess the pile beside my bed and another on a shelf in my office--all to be read. Like a drop in the proverbial bucket. Only my bucket is more like an ocean. I have the best intentions. I used to have an entire tall video cabinet full of TBR books as well as boxes stashed in a closet. I have improved greatly over that situation. I always think I'll have more time to read--when summer gets here, when this book is finished....

When I am old, I will read all those books, but I won't wear purple.

  1. I've been wearing purple for years and had a red hat 1940's velour cap-style with a double row of rhinestones 10 ys before I was eligible to join (looks like something Audrey Hepburn would wear/and I'm no AH!! lol.) Now have no time! Anyway, my TBR pile is stacked 3' high on top of my bedroom bookcase for easy access and 2 stacks next to my bed so I can slip onto our balcony (which I never do) or down to the deck which I try to do often! Just picked up Sophie Kinsella's Shopoholic Ties the Knot, 2 Robert Fulghum's, Elizabeth George's Playing for the Ashes & Barbara Taylor Bradford's The Triumph of Katie Byrne. Have a bookreview due Tues that won't get done til Thurs so best get to it!!

  2. My TBR is neatly filed by genre on my study bookshelves - collecting dust! I did recently finish The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell & Dustin Thomason. Now I'm reading Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. Included in my TBR are several Patricia Cornwell novels. My Cheryl St.John novels don't get dust on them before they're read!

  3. Thanks Cheryl. I have both of those books in my TBR. Nothing like a little TBR anxiety to start out the day.

I'm a girl with no book case at the moment (the horrors!), so my TBR is held in a series of Rubber Maid totes separated by sub genre. A couple of totes for historicals, one for category....you get the idea.

  4. "When I am old, I will read all those books, but I won't wear purple." Heehee...

My TBR pile would go around the world! Probably twice. My Mom says I have enough books to open my own bookstore. Sell my friends and family? NEVER!

  5. I won't wear red but I will be doing a lot of reading from now until......! lol I don't even want to think about my TBR pile. My husband thinks I'm nuts when I get another book to add to that pile! I

  6. I have a couple of Leena Lehtolainen's books on my TBR pile, one book in Finnish and another one in German, Shusaku Endo's book Wonderful fool in Finnish and I'm reading David Attenborough's life on Air and one of Nicola Cornick's books. And I can't wait until I can get my hands on Anne Frasier's book, Pale Immortal. I just read about it on Alison Kent's Blog and it sort of piqued curiosity, because in that book is a place called Tuonela and before christianity was brought to Finland Tuonela was the place you went after your death instead of heaven. It's also mentioned in Kalevala.

  7. Wendy, you have me in suspenders wondering where your bookcases are!

Minna, I love Anne Frasier books! I'm always guaranteed a great read. Recently when I needed a pick-me-up, I re-read one of my favorites: Blue Moon written when she was writing as Theresa Weir.

Did you read When I Wake? !! Awesomw story!

  8. If anyone wants to send a pic of their bookshelves or TBR piles, I will post them. I'd love to see them!

  9. My TBR pile is actually shelves of books and crates of books. It is organized though...I separated it by genre...never know what I'll be in the mood to read so I don't have to search if they are separated.

  10. I no longer have a TBR pile. I've found that as I get older, I get busier, and things like piles of books, while they're lovely, also make me anxious. So I buy'em when I'm ready to read and then I do little else till they're done. I read the Cheryls (Reavis and St. John) and Kathleen Gilles Seidel before the ink is entirely dry on the books.

I know I miss a lot by not having my "stack," but it's one less thing to worry about, which I need.

Oh, my goodness, thank you, Liz! Did you read Blackberry Winter? What's your favorite Reavis?

  12. I don't have a favorite, to tell the truth, although, like with you and Pam Morsi, L. Spencer, etc., I prefer her historicals (not that the publishers ask, of course; they don't)

I emailed C. R. after reading Blackberry Winter and said I wanted to go on record as having said it first that she should get the Rita or at least final. When the finalists list came out, I emailed her again, of course!

I like this TBR discussion. I'd like to see one on Keeper Shelves, too. (Mine is way too big--another reason I don't have a TBR pile.)
