writing tip of the day

Be willing to write badly.  Be willing to make mistakes. Get words on the page and then fix them--or do it better the next time.

    On a more serious note, it's hard to shush that inner critic who keeps saying, 'That's passive' and 'you just used that word two sentences ago'. But on some days, it's all you can do to get the words down on paper. Or up on the screen. Even if they're awful and you cringe when you re-read them.
