Why anyone would prefer brownies with no chocolate, I have no idea :-) but this recipe came from a 1979 Woman's Day Magazine that my cousin Diana shared with me. These bars have been a big hit, and if you're not a chocolate fan, you might be in love.
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed light-brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Mix flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
Melt butter; remove from heat.
Stir in sugar and mis well.
Beat in egg and valilla.
Stir in flour musture, then nuts.
Spread in greased 8x8x2 inch pan.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 25 minutes.
Cool and cut.

With pecans, do they taste sort of like pecan pie? Because if so, I am going to LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteI would think so - truly I've only used walnuts or almonds, so I'd better try with pecans!
ReplyDeleteCher :-)
>brownies with no chocolate<
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them, whoever doesn't like chocolate...
I would prefer chocolate brownies with chocolate chips in them, and perhaps a drizzle of chocolate sauce on top. Dark chocolate, you know, is a health food! (Actually I've just been to the store and stocked up on Medicinal Dark Chocolate.)
LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm completely with you, Magdalena. Why not :::at the very least::: add chocolate chips, right??
I have to try these. I can always pour chocolate on top of them (or mixture of cream and chocolate).
