Just a nomal Saturday morning

So, I saw this picture in a magazine and I had an idea....

All we have to do is cut the tops off these gargantuan pumpkins.

We can save the seeds and grow our own giant pumkins next year!

Ah ha! How cool is that?

I bought a lavender mum and a purple mum to plant inside. Had a couple spikes and black sweet potato vines.

They are WAY heavier filled with dirt. (Dirt is heavier than seeds - duh.)

Then they have to be set just so....

Ta da!

  1. How cute is that?? Those look awesome.

Of course, I have to say I'd never choose to work so hard for a decoration for my front steps. Hmmm--guess that's why my front porch is tiny with only one step up. There's no room for these giant pumpkins---that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. LOL!

  5. What a great idea! Leave it to you, Cheryl, to get an idea like that from a magazine. My excuse for not decorating is . . . . I don't have front steps? Yep, that works. LOL!

  6. How cute Cheryl! I'll have to try that sometime. It must be warm there in the midwest-tank top at the end of Sept! Our furnace is running this weekend and it snowed on the Mountain behind our house Friday night. YUCK!

  8. Brenda, I think our neighbor's think we're nuts -- LOL -- remember we're the ones who grew pumkins in the FRONT yard!

Actually, a lovely lady a couple doors up had a garage sale and I visited with her. She was delightful. She said at first she thought the pumpkin leaves were cucumbers, but that the beautiful flowers were lovely. She asked if it was me or my husband with the green thumb and the passion, and had to think about it. it's a combination. He has a green thumb and loves to dig and build and work outside. I have a creative eye, love flowers and arranging beds and displays just so. So it's the both of us.

    Good thing, too!

  9. Betsy, it is gorgeous here. The weekends have been incredible. We had some showers Sat night. This is mid-fifties, the coolest it's been, but it's warming up.

  13. I think the neighbors are just jealous. LOL I would love to do that but we had pumpkins in the back last year and they went every where I can't image what they are like in the front yard. But look you will have tons of kids wanting pumpkins from you. See and now this year I have to buy them.

  14. Cheryl, GOOD to see your smiling countenance in front of the camera; PLEASE thank whoever (family member?) did us that favor!

someone on KGBI or KLOVE was talking about double rainbows recently. I've seen several; apparently they aren't common? Did you know the colors are reversed in the second one? Hawaii has circular ones in the mountains! WOW! Elderly friend saw them.
