Maybe those of us who do that should have T shirts made that say "Romance Writer: I do some of my best work in bed".

And Cheryl, I love the pretty spring look of your blog! That's a gorgeous tea set pictured in your header.Ann Stephenshttp://www.annstephensromance.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14505413.post-34083532308842155752011-05-09T11:16:06.376-05:002011-05-09T11:16:06.376-05:00Hi Tina baby. I have a dry erase board by my bed for just such an occasion. it's big enough I can jot things down in the dark.

one additional note.
I've used it about three times in two years.Mary Connealyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09598386111251769803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14505413.post-39216898572393253052011-05-09T11:13:50.877-05:002011-05-09T11:13:50.877-05:00I used to do each chapter separatedly, but i'v...I used to do each chapter separatedly, but i've stopped now. I think that's a habit left over, for me anyway, from an old computer that saved everything to a disk. And one disk held ONE CHAPTER. Then it was overloaded.
So no, one book document.
And yes, it's a massive document but I label each chapter like this.
Chapter One
Chapter Two
Then I can skip through the book really fast by doing a Find on the word Chapter.
Someone told me once that no editor or agent will reject a good book because of the font. any readable font is fine.
I used Times New Roman 12 point. I've been told that's the industry standard. But I use it mainly because it's what my computer uses by default and it's a solid, easily readable font. These days, with so much done online, if an editor likes your email submission, they can change the font in two seconds to one they prefer. If you're printing it out to send in, rather than an email submission....well, just don't use wingdings or old English. Or cursive, however lovely.
Ariel, Bookman, Courier, they're all fine. Don't get exotic in case you'd run into trouble with another computer reading an unusual font.

And as always when I'm giving advice, if someone tells you something different....... ....trust them.Mary Connealyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09598386111251769803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14505413.post-21151989232543729972011-05-07T21:23:13.540-05:002011-05-07T21:23:13.540-05:00Oh, I can't believe you don't have some sp...Oh, I can't believe you don't have some spreadsheets thrown in. Please, I beg of you! This is a huge problem area for me because I do the same thing. I was told to put each chapter in a different file, and keep them in the same folder. So far, it's done nothing but complicate things. I realize this question is technical and a bit elementary, but I'm curious, haha. Also, do you have a favorite word processor or font that you use?Natalie Monkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10197043273258414949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14505413.post-18238275818533299372011-05-06T18:01:22.809-05:002011-05-06T18:01:22.809-05:00Hi, Cheryl.
