chives are ready to flower

I love chives. We eat them in salads, on baked potatoes, in mashed potatoes, in tuna and chicken salad, and sometimes just on sandwiches. I've divided them several times, and still have two huge clumps in the back and one in the front.

  1. Those are looking great. I may be over snipping some for myself since we took out all the chives and mint (or tried to) from our garden. :-)

  2. Those look wonderful. Do they come back each year? I just planted some yesterday.

  3. Come cut some any time you're over this way, Robyn!

Yes, Betsy, they come back every year. They get bigger - the first year they're small and narrow. But let them go to seed and they spread. I just love those lovely purple flowers.

  4. We have some of those, too. It'll be a little while until our chives will have flowers on them, though. But the bud in my cactus is finally going to open!
