I'll take my Levi's rare, thank you

Sometimes finding a pair of jeans that fit can seem like a rarity but truly rare jeans go beyond the latest designer label. Custom jeans will always cost more money; Earnest Sewn jeans for example can cost up to $1,000 for a pair tailored to your specifications. Sometimes what makes jeans rare is the add-ons. APO Jeans sells mens and ladies jeans that are available with diamond buttons and rivets for $4,000.

But some of the rarest jeans actually come from a quite common source, the originator of the jeans phenomenon, Levi's. In 2003, they offered a contest to win a special version of Levi's Type 1 Jeans embellished with gold, diamonds and rubies that were said to be worth $85,000 and were part of a $150,000 prize package. According to the Guinness Book of World Records the most valuable jeans are an original pair of Levi Strauss & Co 501 jeans aged over 115 years old which were sold to a collector in Japan for $60,000 through eBay in 2005. Quite rare indeed considering a new pair sells for $46.

Wonder how much my painting jeans would go for....
