A dilemma for Marvel and Seth

I had an email from a concerned reader who thinks my characters in Christmas Day Family were so real that she considers them real people and is worried about their happily ever after. So here's Ann's question. Tell me what YOU think should happen:

I really enjoyed your story but I have a question. Where will they live after they marry? Marvel is responsible for her two boarders and she cares about them. Because of Liberty's health issues, one couldn't just have someone else take over boarding house and I'm not sure how large the doctor's house is but if they had enough rooms, the move might harm her by getting her out of her comfort zone.

What do you say, readers?

  2. Liberty's long-lost great-niece comes west. She decides to move into the boarding house and help take care of great aunt. Marvel lets her take over running the boarding house in return for room and board. It all works out great until a mysterious (handsome) stranger comes to town with scandalous information about said great-neice. Is it really about the great neice, or is it all a terrible mistake?? dun, dun, dun

    "A Summer Wonderland" novella.

  3. Cheryl, if you ever need a author to be next in line for a serial story, I suggest Sherri S as a competent one to pass the baton to- great suggestion- SS!!

  4. Sherri, you obviously need to write a book, dear! I love your idea. I was going to try to come up with something, but you've taken care of it!

  5. Cheryl, that's pretty awesome that the characters were so real for your reader that she's concerned! At the end you do feel like you know them!

  6. Hi,
It's my question and I always appreciate it when authors mention logistics. They create situations to make it difficult to get a HEA and don't necessarily let the reader know how some of these problems are solved. In this case the two boarders, especially the elderly lady rely on Liberty and even the elderly man seemed to be coming out of his shell once the family was part of the household.

  7. I would have everyone stay in the boarding house. Liberty and Mr. Oh, I forgot his name...are family. I'm sure the kids feel that way. That way Seth would be able to keep his medical practice a bit more separate from family life--one of the reasons he left denver!

Although, Sherri's great niece idea's pretty good--but where's the dragon in the cowboy hat?

  8. Wow Sherri, have you written a book yourself? Great idea! There's a reason I read the stories and not write them. I have absolutely no imagination. Thank goodness we have people like you guys to entertain the rest of us.

  10. Okay, as usual, Sherri has me laughing out loud! I do love the thought of a mysterious stranger...

I really like *lizzie's idea. Seth brings his belongings and lives in Marvel's house. There are too many memories there for her to ever desert the place. And her boarders probably only have a few years left. By then the kids will be growing up - and bringing home trouble. *g*

And it's always a wonder to me when readers remember a story so well! Like the reason Seth left Denver, *lizzie.
