PTA Life Achievement Award

Adam and Eric announce the recipient: Their Mom

LeighAnn (in blue) recieves the PTA Life Achievement Award

The National PTA Life Achievement Award is the highest honor from the nation’s largest child advocacy organization, awarded to "the person who daily lives out his or her commitment to children." My daughter LeighAnn was awarded this achievement this morning at a special ceremony at their school. She receives a certificate, a letter from the national PTA president and a 24K gold lapel pin. It was a surprise to her.

LeighAnn said she suspected something when she saw the principal call her youngest two into the office, and then when she saw me there, she knew something was up.

Here she is with the principal. The PTA also gave LeighAnn a hanging basket of flowers.

This is a particularly sad-sweet year end because this is her last year of involvement at this elementary school. Next year the two younger boys will be closer to where they moved three years ago. LeighAnn has driven them quite distance every day because of their love for the school and the teachers.

  3. That's great Cheryl. Tell her congrats. from us. I could almost smell the rain in your pictures. Nothing smells like Nebraska after a spring rainfall. It's not the same out here in the Northwest. I do miss the springtime back home!

  4. I agree, you should be very proud of your daughter (who I'm sure takes after her mom. Right?!) I like your new background and page, except ... have you got a thing for Kermit the Frog? Does Jay know? LOL

  6. Hi Cheryl,

This is Kim, LeighAnn's friend. I am so proud of LeighAnn:) She has done so much for the Ponca Community and she will truly be missed next year. When families enter Ponca, they will see a plaque of all state life winners and her name will be on this plaque forever. Have a great day:)

  7. Hi, Kim! Thanks for posting! How cool to know that her name will be on the hallowed halls of Ponca School forever! So glad you let me know.

I was also so proud of Mrs. Dougherty who won the Allison Buffet Award. She's the teacher who organizes post cards from all over the world for her social studies classes. Many of my readers have sent postcards to the kids for those projects.

Stop by again. We talk about all kinds of crazy things here!
