Monday Flowers

I did snap my first butterfly of the season this morning, but the shots weren't clear. I caught this bleeding heart with the morning sun behind it and I just love the effect of the light through those delicate flowers.

It's fun to experiement taking shots at different times of day. Morning and late evening are my favorites, because of the light contrast.

This last one is spiderwort. I think it's gorgeous. My heroine in Saint or Sinner had one planted in a sugar bowl on her kitchen table.

  1. Beautiful flowers Cheryl! What a nice morning break. It's gloomy here, early June Gloom in CA.

On another note, my hubby said Blake had more Google hits, by millions than Melinda and Jordin - so he's the prediction now. Personally, I loved both Melinda and Jordin and Melinda was the odds on favorite in Las Vegas. Guess I'll be calling in my votes on Tuesday nights!

  3. Judging by all the girls and tweeners in the crowds screaming for Blake, I can see that he's going to be a tough contender! I like him, and I think he's way fun and way cute. I just thought Melinda was hands down the most talented. Now I'll be voting for Jordin, cause I love her, too.

  4. Absolutely beautiful flowers Cheryl.

I keep forgetting to say -- Bleeding Hear = Love Lies Bleeding.

YOur spiderwort is a type of tradescantia, isn't it? Tradescantia is named after one of the John Tradescants who discovered many of today's plants. John the younger was a great collector in the NewWorld. They also founded the first museum in England open to the public -- Tradescant's Ark. It later became (through skullduggery) the nucleus for the Ashmoeon Museum.
Anyway, it is a lovely plant.

  5. Thanks, Michelle! The Tradescants are the central characters of the books Earthly Joys and Virgin Earth, by Philippa Gregory.
