Favorite Songs from Movies

It's been a while since we did a list, and I have one I think will be fun. I have been singing that silly "I've been living with a clown above my bed" line to myself for days. I already reviewed Music & Lyrics when I saw it at the theater, so I didn't mention that I rented it and watched it again. I'm going to have to buy it.

What are your favorite unforgettable songs from the movies? Here are ten I came up with, but there are a jilion more I love. Are any of these on your favorites list? Which ones are stuck in your head for life?

* This Old Time Rock & Roll, Bob Seger, Risky Business
* The Time of My Life, Jennifer Warnes & Bill Medley, Dirty Dancing
* Take My Breath Away, Berlin, Top Gun
* Unchained Melody, Righteous Brothers, Ghost
* You've Got A Way, Shania Twain, Notting Hill
* To Make You Feel My Love, Tricia Yearwood, Hope Floats
* Summer Nights, John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Grease
* Under the Boardwalk, Bette Midler, Beaches
* My Heart Will Go On, Celine Dion, Titanic
* Pretty Woman, Roy Orbison, Pretty Woman

  1. I love the Trisha Yearwood and Celine Dion songs. One of my favorites is I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston in the movie Bodyguard. I also loved the music in Phantom of the Opera, especially The Music of the Night

  2. The Time of My Life is one of my favorites! Some of my other favorite songs and themes are
Theme from Jurassic Park, John Williams
Everything I Do I Do It For You, Bryan Adams (someone I know in Canada would have had the chance to dance with Adams...)
(Die Hard 2) Finlandia, Jean Sibelius
Be True To Your Heart, Stevie Wonder
The Power of Love, Huey Lewis and the News (I wonder how many different songs there are that are called "The Power of Love". I know at least 2 other songs)
    Flashdance, Irene Cara
Other songs and themes that come to mind are from different tv series.

  5. I love, The Time of My Life, I Will Always Love You and almost every other "chick flick" theme song there is. I'm a real sucker for romance. :)

  6. This isn't from a movie..but the theme song to the show "Everwood" was great!

As for movies, I liked the soundtrack to "Where the Heart Is."

  7. Most of my favorite movie songs are on your list already, Cher. I think we must have the same taste in movies.

But I always like the theme from Somewhere in Time by Roger Williams. It's not something to sing along with, but it's beautiful. I think I liked everything about that movie. LOL

But I can't believe that no one has mentioned any of the songs off of what was the #1 selling movie soundtrack of all time: Saturday Night Live. :)

  8. Uh Uh Uh Uh, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Guess what, Nita? My dad played in a band with Roger Williams when Roger was still plain old Louie Wurtz in Des Moines IA as twenty somethings. They kept in touch for my dad's whole life. (He died last June.) Sometimes Roger plays on TBN. My favorite by him is Autumn Leaves.

  9. That is so cool, Cher! Roger (or Louie) is a great musician. I'll have to look for Autumn Leaves.

Did your dad play as well as Roger? :) With you for a daughter, I can well imagine what a character he might have been. LOL If you take after him at all, I'm sure he led a full life, rich with friends and family.
