Thursday Musings

It's feeling more and more like fall weather here, and I'm loving it! We have orange pumpkins and the mums are starting to bloom. I have plans to make a couple of scarecrows--have all their clothes hanging in the garage, just need the hubby to help with frames.

I'm a big BONES fan. Did anyone watch it last night? Kind of yicky, but the story was ripped from the headlines with a twist. Sorry, Minna, I know you don't get this season there yet. It was a murdered woman who was pregnant and the husband was the suspect. The woman was discovered washed up in a bay.

I've been taping Justice, which comes on right after, for both new weeks, but haven't watched it yet.

Still haven't bothered to watch Katie Couric on the news yet, though I've read about her in the paper. I never understood her appeal; she's just o.k. Much ado about little, I'm thinking. Now bring on Dr. Phil and let him comment on the news and I'd be all over that. LOL!

  1. Last night I watched BIG BROTHER ALL STARS and the first NFL game of the season...my favorite season...FALL!
I tried to watch BONES a few times but I didn't enjoy it. I'd rather read Kathy Reich's books.
Kudos to Couric! It's about time we have a woman doing the nightly news. Now if we could just elect a woman president...

  2. Funny, I haven't liked Reich's books all that much, but maybe it's just because I saw the TV series first. However, I found this book, Bones Buried Deep by Max Allan Collins and that one I did like. Nice picture of David Boreanaz on the cover, too. :)

  3. I read "Bones Buried Deep" and I loved it! I wish Collins would write another. Kathy Reichs created the character Temperance Brennen. And Tempe solves murders just like on the show BONES. You need to read her books, Cheryl. They are fantastic! Kathy is a forensic anthropologist just like Tempe and that I think is what makes her books so awesome. She really knows her stuff. A few titles are: DEJA DEAD, DEATH DU JOUR, BARE BONES and GRAVE SECRETS. She has a new book out in hardback I think. I don't like David Boreanaz.

  4. Ok, Mel, thanks! I need to place an amazon order, and I always select enough to bring the total up for free shipping. I'll try one of these.

  5. By the way, has anyone read Anne Frasier's Pale Immortal yet? There is a reason why I want to get that book on my hands!

  7. I just bought it at Walmart this morning, Mel! Anne Frasier is one of my faves, as you might already know. Loved all her work as Theresa Weir, too. Long Night Moon is my favorite. Writing as Anne Frasier, I think I liked the last one best-When I Wake? I plan to post about Pale Immortal like I usually do when I read a great book!

  8. Right now I'm looking for Uncle Scrooge #334, too, because it features The Quest for Kalevala by Don Rosa. Strange, though, when I checked the pages of this bookstore where I usually buy my books they had #333 and #335, but no #334. :(

  9. I have some of Kathy Reich's books in my TBR pile. I'll have to dig them out. There just isn't enough time to read everything!!! lol

  10. Haven't watched TV in so long with a FT & PT job, not even recorded. Saw the headlines about Katie Couric, but no opinion, pro or con. Not familiar with K. Reichs, but have credit at my Booksellers so may head over there next week. Mel, thanks for titles for me to seek; I love strong women characters & my mother in heaven would be SO happy with a woman prez! Thanks, Cheryl, for mentioning Anne's nom de plume; another search to pursue. And FALL is my FAVORITE season; the air is like breathing champagne & having the bubbles tickle my skin on the outside! I feel like I could fly like Peter Pan, ready to launch! LOL
