Nick Again

Here's the calendar page I sent the art department. The NICK ALL NIGHT cover is the most commented upon cover I've ever had.

  7. Cheryl, Is my memory serving me right? didn't you tell me the only thing wrong with the Nick cover was he should have been wearing jeans instead of PJ bottoms as he was likely a "buff" sleeper and would have yanked on jeans? If so, Becca was on target. I'm not into ogling men, but he is one who would turn my head and rate a second glance, peak, stare. LOL

  9. Hi Lisa! Welcome!

Lou is right on with that story. And here's a story about the editing:

I had a very young sweet assistant editor doing the edits for this book. In the scene where Nick comes downstairs for a snack after a late shift and a shower and is ready for bed, he has tugged on a pair of jeans. That's all.

In the margin, the sweet young ed asks, "Wouldn't he be wearing pajamas?"

My reply in big bold red was, "My macho sexy small-town Iowa sheriff in pajamas???? NOT!!

I had a good many laughs over that, thinking of her shock that he would have been sleeping in the buff.

Months later, I get my much anticipated mail, and to my chagrin and dismay -- my macho sexy hero on the cover is wearing PAJAMAS!

    LOL

  10. I'm sorry, Cheryl! For what it's worth, it's still a great cover, regardless.

And yes, believe it or not, some men DO sleep in the buff... lol

**snickering at a romance editor's shock at that revelation**

In fact, I have yet to meet a man that *does* sleep in PJ's.

  12. Nickol that story was one of the memories of meeting Cheryl at her book signing in Plattsmouth last Nov. I LOVE inside info like that! Cheryl, now that I know more about your interests (gardening, etc) & family, it makes (re)reading your novels even more interesting.

  13. Occasionally authors get into discussions about blogging, etc. and many often wonder if letting readers know them better is a good thing -- or if an author's real-life personality might turn off people from buying their books.

I enjoy the interaction so much that I hope it's not a worry I should entertain. Thanks for your comment, Lou.

  14. I don't blog with Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts, Susan Wiggs or Julia Quinn but check their websites & get newsletters/notices from them and don't believe any adverse effects, quite the contrary. So GLAD Jim Ball got us together and that this keeps US in touch!

  15. Beings I knew you before you were an author, it doesn't much matter to me. But I love being able to get "behind the scenes" stuff about your work.
